H. Mitton Wilson - Self portrait
Period
Edwardian (1901 - 1914)
Description
Seated half length self-portrait of the artist Henry Mitton Wilson.
Henry Mitton Wilson was a landscape painter who lived in St Albans, in Harlesden Road and Brampton Road from 1905 until his death in 1925 when he was buried in the Hatfield Road cemetery. He exhibited at the Royal Academy and other London galleries between 1901 and 1919. Mitton Wilson was a close friend of J. R. Dunning and it is possible that this connection brought him and his family to St Albans and also connected him with many other local artists.
