In the foreground . On either side of the main illustration are the coat of arms of St Albans.Text below the illustration reads: "Prominent on the pages on history are the events that have occured at St Albans. Here in 1455 Richard of York defeated Henry VI in a famous battle and here the great chancellor Bacon lived and died. The grand abbey church is dedicated to St Albans memory."
