Monochrome glass lantern slide showing St Albans Abbey from around Cottonmill Lane.
This photograph appears to have been taken during Lord Grimthorpe's restoration work of 1880 - 1885, since the West end (to the left) has been renovated but the South part of the Abbey with its Norman turrets has not yet been altered.
