MUSEUM OF ST ALBANS
Please Note: The Museum of St Albans will be closing to the public from Monday 6th September 2010 for essential maintenance work to our public galleries. It will re-open to the public on Sunday 26th September. We appreciate your understanding during this time and apologise for any disruption this closure may cause.
The Museum of St Albans will also be open for the day on Sunday 12th September for St Albans Giant Monopoly, an event for Heritage Open Days 2010.

Founded as the Hertfordshire County Museum in 1898, the Museum of St Albans tells the story of St Albans from the departure of the Romans to the present day.
In the medieval gallery you can find out about Alban, Britain's first Christian martyr, and the Abbey that grew up around the site of his martyrdom. See objects used by people in medieval St Albans and learn how they lived.
More fascinating and colourful displays continue the story of how St Albans developed from a small market town into a bustling commuter city. Special displays with a wide range of objects illustrate everyday life in Victorian St Albans.

A particular attraction is the regular programme of special exhibitions, covering a whole range of subjects from Barbie dolls to the Egyptians. There is also a wide range of activities for people of all ages. See our What's On section for more details.
Wildlife Garden
Linger in the compact garden laid out to provide a rich and varied habitat for a wide range of animals and plants. There is a small children's trail around the garden.

Monday - Saturday 10.00am - 5.00pm
Sunday 2.00 - 5.00pm
Open all year, except between Christmas and New Year - please check with the museum for details.
