Kubrick: A Film Makers Odyssey An exhibition at the Museum of St Albans Friday 2nd April 2010 – Sunday 5th September 2010 Free Admission Open Mon – Sat 10.00am – 5.00pm. Sun 2.00pm – 5.00pm. With support from the Kubrick family and Kubrick Archive. The Museum of St Albans and University of Hertfordshire have teamed up to offer you a summer of film with exhibition, talks, activities and screenings in St Albans and Hatfield. This exciting new exhibition uses material from the Kubrick Archive to look at how Stanley Kubrick worked and the different processes involved in film making |

Rockets and Robots Tuesday 6th April 10.30am – 12.30pm All space age movies need fantastic props! Come along to this junk modelling prop session and see what amazing futuristic creations you can make. This session is for 6-13 year olds. Please bring along old cereal boxes, egg cartons, and any other used containers that you think look like interesting shapes. Lost in Space - Animated film workshop Wednesday 7th April 10.30am – 4.30pm Come and create an animated film that is out of this world! Make characters inspired by Stanley Kubrick's film 2001: A Space Odyssey and then make them come to life on screen with the magic of stop motion animation. During the day you will have the chance to work in small groups to create a simple storyboard, make characters from plastecine and a host of other interesting materials and animate using laptops and cameras. After the workshop you will be sent a DVD of the finished film. This session is for 8-13 year olds. Movie Sets Thursday 8th April 10.30am – 12.30pm Find out what a film set looks like; the people, props and equipment that you would find. You can then make your own model of a movie set, complete with actors, scenery, props and director's chair! This session is for 8-13 year olds. Reminiscence Coffee Morning: Planes, Trains and Automoblies Saturday 24th April 10:30am - 12:00 Museum of St Albans Relax with a cup of tea or coffee and enjoy looking at photographs and objects from the 1930s, ‘40s, ‘50s and ‘60s, and 70s, which are sure to bring back lots of memories. Have fun reminiscing at these themed coffee mornings and feel free to bring your own pictures to share.
