Easter Holiday Activities

The Easter holidays are upon us - so we have a range of events and activities planned to keep everyone in the family occupied. . .

School holiday activity for 6 – 11 year olds.
These sessions are all £6. Spaces are limited so please book in advance either in person at Verulamium Museum or by phone 01727 751810.

Keep Calm and Colour On Tuesday 4th April
10.30am – 12.30pm and 2pm – 4pm
Make your own T-shirt inspired by the famous wartime slogan and discover the impact of posters both in war and in peacetime.

Memories and Mementos Wednesday 5th April
10.30am – 12.30pm and 2pm – 4pm
Hear stories from two perspectives of wartime: the home front and from soldiers writing home to loved ones.  Discover the mementos that became so special and create your own keepsake inspired by our exhibition ‘All in it Together’.

Front Page News tales and tabloids Wednesday 12th April
10.30am – 12.30pm and 2pm – 4pm
Turn reporter for the day!  Come along braced with your own stories and hear some new ones.  Design your own newspaper front page splash to take home.

Activities for Younger Children
Crafty Capers - Thursday 6th & Friday 7th April / Thursday 13th & Friday 14th 2pm-4 pm
Inspired by our exhibition ‘All in it Together’, create your own ‘Visit St Albans’ poster and make an aeroplane mobile to take home.
Suitable for ages 3+, accompanied by an adult. Drop in activity, £1.50.

Tots Tales Wednesday 12th April 10.30am – 11.30am and 1.30pm – 2.30pm
Join us for a story, craft activity and a museum hunt inspired by the book Five Minute’s Peace by Jill Murphy.
Suitable for children aged 2 – 4 years, accompanied by an adult. £2.00.

Other Events
Paper engineering workshop Tuesday 11th April 10.30 am – 3pm
Learn to make pop-ups with popular illustrator and paper engineer John O'Leary. Inspired by our exhibition ‘All in it Together’, build on basic techniques and folds to create 3D designs exploring ideas of change, transformation and misdirection.
Suitable for 8-13 year olds. £15.00.

Meet a Roman Soldier Saturday 15th April, 2.30 pm and 3.30 pm
Marcus Aurelius Saturnius, a Roman merchant selling olive oils and spices from around the Roman Empire is visiting Verulamium! 
Drop in, free.
