February Half-Term Activities

If you’re looking for activities to keep the kids amused in February half-term, we have things going on every day. There are drop-in craft activities with a Valentines theme, holiday sessions focused on the Normans, as well as Roman handling tables and Queen Boudicca telling some of her stories.

Family Fun
Monday 13th February (11am – 1pm)
Ancient Poo – a surprising treasure!
Drop in to discover the amazing things we can learn about people in the past by looking at what their poo tells us. Take a look at archaeological poo, and have a go at dissecting, studying and even making a pretend poo of your own! Suitable for children aged 6+ Free. 

Monday 13th & Tuesday 14th February (2pm-4pm.)
Crafty Capers
Drop-in craft activities with a Valentine theme.
Suitable for children aged 3 – 11 years. £1.50. 

Tuesday 14th February (11am – 1pm)
Roman Inventions
Did you know the Romans invented sewers and central heating? Drop in and see some of the amazing roman inventions found around the house. Can you work out what the mystery objects were used for? Have a go at recreating some feats of roman engineering using spaghetti and marshmallows! Suitable for children aged 6+ Free.

Sunday 19th February (2pm – 4.30pm)
Meet Queen Boudicca
Come along and meet this amazing queen in the museum galleries. Find out what happened when she met the Romans.Story telling sessions by Boudicca at 2.30pm and 3.30 pm. Suitable for all ages! Free.

Wednesday 15th February (10.30am – 12.30pm and 2pm – 4pm)
Knights’ Tales
Listen to some Norman stories and discover what life as a Norman Knight was like.  Make your own shield and helmet to complete your look.

Thursday 16th February (10.30am – 12.30pm and 2pm – 4pm)
Capture the Castle
Find out all about sieges 11th century style and make your own motte and bailey castle model to take home.

Friday 17th February (10.30am – 12.30pm and 2pm – 4pm)
The St Albans Story: A Graphic Novel
Discover the stories of this historic cathedral city and make your own comic book based on a potted history of St Albans, all in the style of the Bayeux Tapestry.
