Heritage Open Days

Posted on: 11th August 2017 By:

Every year for Heritage Open Days, organisations across the country throw open their doors to welcome visitors to explore their local heritage.

This year, the national celebration has an additional theme as 2017 marks an important year in LGBTQ history. It is 50 years since the Sexual Offences Act 1967 which led to the partial decriminalization of male homosexuality. Heritage organisations are hosting events to embrace, represent and share LGBTQ stories.

At Verulamium Museum, we will be taking an alternative look at Roman life. Visitors can explore how ideas around identity, gender and traditional social roles have changed since the Romans.

We have plenty of exciting activities planned, with all the details below.

Plus, entry to Verulamium Museum and to St Albans Clock Tower will be free during the Heritage Open Day weekend!!!
