Summer Holiday Activities

If you’re looking to keep the kids amused during the summer holiday we have an exciting array of activities, crafts and trails planned.
In a change to our previous holiday activities, we have themed events every day running throughout the whole of August.

We are also running two Creative Art Workshops, generously supported by Arts Council England.

Thursday 3rd August, 11 am – 1 pm and 2pm – 4pm
Mosaic Making -Creative art workshops
Come along and work with mosaic artist Dionne Ible to create your own mosaic coaster designs inspired by the beautiful mosaics in our museum collection.
Free, drop in. 
Please note at busy times you might need to wait a short time before taking part in the activity.


Thursday 24th August, 10.30 am – 12.00 pm and 2pm – 3.30pm
Animal felting -Creative art workshops
Join this bookable session working with textile artist Anne-Marie Stijelja to create your own felted image inspired by the animal brooches in the museum. All materials supplied.  Spaces are limited so please book in advance either in person at Verulamium Museum or by phone 01727 751810. £3.00, 8-13 year olds

Mondays in August, 2pm – 4pm
Crafts in the Colonnade, drop-in activity
A simple make and take craft activity to keep you busy on a Monday afternoon! 
Please note that last ticket sales will be at 3.40pm to allow time for the activity and all children must be accompanied by a responsible adult. £1.50.

Tuesdays in August, all day
Crack the Code Museum Trail
Explore the museum for clues to the Roman words and phrases hidden around the galleries. 
Free.

Wednesdays in August, 11am and 2pm
Show and Tell
Come along and discover the secrets of our museum collections with a short talk or handling session.
Free.

Thursdays in August, all day
Museum Explorers
Borrow items from our explorer kit to help you investigate the museum, what will you discover?
Free

Fridays in August, 11 am – 1 pm
Family Fridays
Explore a different theme each week of the summer with a drop-in craft and learning session inspired by our collections. 
Handle artefacts and make a souvenir to take home. Please note that last ticket sales will be at 12.40pm to allow time for the activity and all children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Saturdays in August, all day
Saturday Sightseeing
Start your Sightseeing Saturday with a trip to Verulamium Museum and collect an ideas and activity sheet to help you explore other places of interest in St Albans.
Free.

Sundays in August, 2pm – 5pm
Museum Explorers
Borrow items from our explorer kit to help you investigate the museum, what will you discover?
