The Portable Antiquities Scheme exists to encourage the voluntary recording of archaeological objects found by members of the public in England and Wales.
If you have something you think is treasure - please do contact us as these normally go to the British Museum for analysis. Objects that count as treasure (broadly) are:
* Objects comprised mostly of silver or gold and more than 300 years old.
* Two or more coins of silver or gold and more than 300 years old (a single coin is not treasure).
*Ten or more coins of bronze and more than 300 years old
* Pre-historic metalwork.
