A pair of portraits of Sir John Blundell Maple (left) and his wife Lady Maple (right).
Sir John Blundell Maple (1845 - 1903) made his fortune through the Maple furniture business, which he founded. He was also a racehorse owner. He lived in Childwickbury, near St Albans and founded the Sisters Hospital and Clarence Park in St Albans. He was a good friend of the future Edward VII, and MP for Dulwich.
