Work Placements

Access Group

Building work is underway to transform St Albans’ Town Hall into a brand new museum and art gallery right in the city centre.

The Access Advisory Group has now been formed and will be meeting as a core group of 10 to discuss the wide range of areas and issues. We are aiming to open the new museum in spring 2018 and imagine the shape and composition of the group will flex and adapt depending on the areas of focus and priorities at any one stage of the project.

The Access Group will help ensure exhibitions and activities will be open to all members of the community, including those with specific needs. The Group will use its knowledge of a range of disabilities to help inform key areas such as the presentation of the collections and events.

We would like to continue to collaborate with the group beyond the opening as well so there will be ongoing opportunities to get involved.

Access Mailing list
If you would like to join this list to be kept in the loop about this activity and specific strands of work where we are looking for support in exploring a particular area, email

Anyone interested in joining the mailing list should have constructive opinions about access issues and enjoy exploring creative solutions. They should also have a desire to support and improve the experience of visitors with specific accessibility needs.
