Reconstruction of a carpenter's workshop in Roman Verulamium.

Visit the reconstructed carpenter's workshop and listen to the sounds of the workshop and bustling street.

Our carpenter's shop is based on a house excavated less than 200 metres from the museum. It burnt down in AD 155 and the family fled, leaving all of their possessions behind

The carpenter's woodworking tools are familiar to modern carpenters and he would have used them to make furniture, window frames, chests and caskets.
