Verulamium Museum is on the site of one of the major cities in Roman Britain, now an attractive park.

Hypocaust
A short walk across the park is the new hypocaust building, which presents in situ an original Roman mosaic floor and its underfloor heating system, once part of a large house.

The hypocaust building is open during musuem opening hours and has free entry.

A short walk from the museum is the site of one of the few true Roman theatres in Britain. It has banked seating facing the stage, with a re-erected stage column. The Theatre was built around AD 130. The site is in private ownership.

Verulamium Park
The museum is set in 100 acres of parkland. A mobile phone tour of the park is currently being developed. There are many amenities in the park including children's playground, children's splash pool (summer only), tea shop, lake with wildlife, tennis and crazy golf.
