Prehistory Explorers (Stone Age to Iron Age)  History and English  
Duration: 75 minutes
Cost : £100 for the first session, £70 for subsequent sessions on the same day
Adult helpers needed:
Please provide 4 adults


In this hands on session, children will find out about the work of archaeologists: what they do, how they know where to dig and the sort of artefacts they are sometimes lucky enough to find. Through the investigation of artefacts the children will gain an insight into what life was like in the Palaeolithic Age, Neolithic Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age.

The Ancient Egyptians History, English and Art
Duration: 75 minutes
Cost: £100 for the first session, £70 for subsequent sessions on the same day
Adult helpers needed: Please provide a minimum of 2 adults

In this fascinating session the students will have the opportunity to investigate a variety of real and replica Egyptian artefacts. Through these they will explore key aspects of the Ancient Egyptians’ way of life including: what they wore, how they wrote, what the children played with and how they treated the bodies of those that had died. They will dress up as Egyptians and produce an observational drawing.

Victorian Childhood   History, English and Art
Duration: 75 minutes
Cost : £100 for the first session, £70 for subsequent sessions on the same day
Adult helpers needed:
Please provide a minimum of 2 adults


Children will discover how hard life was for children in Victorian St Albans. Working in groups, they will examine a variety of artefacts to find those that match particular Victorian job descriptions.  They will explore what these jobs entailed and gain an understanding of what it was like to be a child worker and also a school child.

The Home Front - World War 2   History, English
“What was life like on the Home Front during the Second World War?”
Duration: 75 minutes
Cost: £100 for the first session, £70 for subsequent sessions
Adult Helpers Needed: 
Please provide a minimum of 2 adults


In this absorbing session students will have the opportunity to handle and investigate a variety of artefacts connected with the Home Front, including: an incendiary bomb, gas mask and a darning mushroom. Through these, they will gain a real insight into the ways that war impacted on peoples’ lives including the effects of food and clothes rationing and how people kept safe during an air raid.
