We are currently recruiting for the following vacancies to work across St Albans Museum + Gallery and Verulamium Museum:
- Casual Events Assistant, £10.00 per hour
- Casual Museum Assistant, £8.75 per hour
Joining our casual register is perfect for anyone looking for a flexible way of working. You will work on an ‘as and when needed’ basis in order to support our Museums service. Our pool of Casuals have an agreement to undertake work, but are under no obligation to accept the hours offered. Generally Casuals cover sickness, periods of annual leave or during specific periods of work. We envisage there will be hours on offer from December.
We are looking for individuals with excellent communication and customer service skills for both of these pools:
Casual Museum Assistant (Monday to Sunday, working during the daytime)
We are looking for people to provide cover on a casual basis for both our Verulamium Museum and St Albans Museum and Gallery sites. You will be providing visitors to our sites with a positive, enjoyable and rewarding experience.
You will be welcoming visitors including school groups, providing information about the sites and other local visitor attractions as well as working in the museum shops.
Rate of pay: £8.75 per hour
Timing: Monday to Sunday, c.9am – 5.30pm Mon – Sat and c.10am – 5.30pm on Sundays.
Casual Events Assistant (Monday to Saturday, working in the evenings)
We are also looking for people to provide evening cover at our Verulamium Museum and St Albans Museum and Gallery sites. You will be providing a warm and friendly welcome for visitors and guests on site for evening functions and also ensure that evening events run safety and securely.
You will welcome visitors and provide information and also ensure the building and exhibits are secure during functions. You will also oversee evening functions, work in the museum shop and provide logistical support to caterers etc as necessary.
Rate of pay: £10 per hour
Timing: Monday to Sunday evenings.
