Steve Guy from Cabaret Mechanical Theatre draws on his years of experience making and maintaining automata to explore how you can make automata at home using everyday objects and materials. Using things like plastic bottle tops, corks, barbecue sticks, tins, card, chopsticks and wire he shows you how to make mechanical contraptions.

Steve will demonstrate a range of different making projects at levels suitable for beginners to the more advanced. Some projects can be done with basic crafting resources such as scissors and glue, and others will need basic DIY type tools, such as a drill and pliers.

People joining the Webinar will be able to ask Steve questions as he demonstrates and discusses ways of making automata, how simple mechanisms work, and above all the creative fun to be had playing around building mechanisms from stuff you might find at home.

Suitable for all ages (6+, children must be supervised), but do note that making the individual automata projects will depend on skill level and availability of objects, materials and tools.
