Join members of the local Jewish community whose family objects are displayed in the Arriving & Belonging exhibition to find out about the personal stories behind the objects. Each object - from a painting hidden in an Amsterdam annexe to a family prayer book - tells a story linking to universal themes of sanctuary, courage, compassion, setting down roots, work and community.
This Sunday, Debbie will tell you about her great grandfather’s journey to South Shields from Lithuania and how her family came to have the name Pearlman. You will be able to see her great grandfather’s prayer book on display in the exhibition.
These talks are free, they take place in the Keeper's Galleries and there's no need to book ahead.
