Creating a piece for this historic landmark, I wanted a blend of old and new. My painting of the clock tower was inspired by the numerous artists that we have in our Museum collection who have used it as inspiration themselves over the centuries.

I wanted to show the textures of the stonework as well in my brushstrokes, therefore worked in acrylic.

Bringing a modern twist to the piece came with the graffiti, that makes the work eye catching and vibrant. I used the St Albans flag colours - inverted - to add another homage to the local pride that St Albans City has for its historical landmarks.

Medium: Acrylic on canvas and digital graffiti.

Artist: Wet Paintbrush
