Uh Oh and Not Now Thanks, 2019 Ply, acrylic sheet, fabric

Michael Bradshaw works in response to collected ready-made items, which are mostly defunct or discarded parts of larger items and appliances.

Initially studying the objects’ intrinsic function and material properties through drawings, Bradshaw then replicates aspects of them altering their scale and materials and adding new features. Through this process the artist seeks to create new hybrid objects which justify their own existence, while still refencing their original form and functionality.

He combines the domestic with the industrial, the handmade with the machined and the functional with the domestic, in an attempt to understand the objects we surround ourselves with.
