We kindly ask schools to book a time slot for a self guided visit to St Albans Museum + Gallery. Please contact us directly to discuss options, dates and times. We are happy to discuss options and tailor a visit for your group.

We have a variety of workshops for different age groups that you could do alongside a self guided tour.

Explore the wonderful collections and exhibitions at St Albans Museum + Gallery with a self guided visit. The Georgian Grade II* listed Town Hall has been fully restored and now sits proudly at the centre of our historic city. We can also offer fun, educational trails for you to use around the museum.

Wonder at the imposing historic courtroom and atmospheric holding cells before heading upstairs to admire the beautiful Assembly Room. As you explore these pre-Victorian spaces, learn more about the stories these spaces tell and view our permanent and changing displays.

Free | 1 - 2 hours | Up to 32 children

Please note: Due to the size of the galleries, and the need to allow other visitors to explore at the same time, we can only welcome one class into the museum at a time. If you have more than one class, we can alternate your time in the museum with a trail to explore the city centre, or with one of our workshops. We have a required ratio of 1:8 for KS1 & 2, and 1:10 for KS2 & 3.  When exploring the museum, please explore in groups of up to 10 children per group. All children must be accompanied at all times.
