Explore the wonderful collection at Verulamium Museum with a self-guided visit.
We can welcome up to 30 people in one group. If you have more than 30, then we will split you into two or more groups, and can alternate your time in the gallery with time seeing the ruins in the park. We recommend seeing the hypocaust and city walls.
For school groups, we have artefact handling workshops for different age groups that you can do alongside a self-guided tour. As we have limited space and receive a high number of school groups visiting, we will offer you a timetable where groups alternate activities.
We have a ratio of 1:8 (KS1 & 2), 1:10 (KS3 & 4) and 1:15 (Sixth form) so we do ask that you explore the gallery in smaller groups of 8/10, as we have some smaller spaces and want all visitors to explore comfortably. All children must be accompanied at all times.
For school groups or groups with children we can also offer fun, educational trails for you to use around the museum.
For groups of more than 15, we can offer you the group rate of £5 per person (£4 per person for residents of St Albans City and District.) You can buy tickets on our website or with cash and card at the front desk on arrival.
For adult groups we can also offer a tour with our curator. This is an hour long tour for up to 15 people. If you have more people we can look to facilitate a talk in one of our learning studios where we have capacity for up to 32.
In term time, we are usually very busy with schools from 10-2pm. We are unlikely to be able to fit your group in during these times, but do get in touch and we can check our availability. We recommend visiting after 2pm when it's likely to be quieter. We strongly recommend booking as we may not be able to let you into the gallery if we are at capacity with schools.
