When you book spaces for your event at St Albans Museum + Gallery we'll be on hand to help you every step of the way. Here are the answers to a few of the frequently asked questions about booking your event.

If you have any other questions please get in touch: museumevents@stalbans.gov.uk

Decorations

Due to the historic nature of the building, candles, naked flames, smoke and haze machines, indoors fireworks and drones are not permitted.  To protect the delicate fabric of this historic site, we ask that blue tack and sellotape are not used and that nothing is fixed to the walls/ceilings/floors.

Confetti

We don't allow confetti inside the Museum, but you can throw confetti outside the Museum.

Catering

At St Albans Museum + Gallery, we work closely with our exclusive caterers to ensure all our events are delivered to perfection.

With years of experience delivering a variety of events we offer a quality driven hospitality service that offers the flexibility you need. We have catered for weddings, corporate parties, fashion shows and much more at St Albans Museum + Gallery and pride ourselves on tailoring exclusive catering to match your day.

Our caterers will provide you with a quote for your event which includes all the catering equipment and staff (such as crockery, cutlery, linen, bar equipment).

Clients are permitted to bring in outside caterers, but a buyout fee of £4,000 is required to do so. This cost is on top of the room hire fee.  Please note:

  • Outside caterers will have no access to the kitchen.
  • All linen, tables, crockery, service, and cleaning will need to be provided by the clients outside catering team.
  • Rooms are required to be left in the condition they were found in.
  • A member of the team will manage your booking but will not be able to run service during your event.

Amendments:

Any amendments made to a booking once a completed and signed booking form has been returned will incur a £50 admin fee per amendment.

These are available in all space within the St Albans Museum + Gallery, but due to the historic nature of the Grade II listed building, spaces may take time to cool down.

St Albans Museum + Gallery is a Grade II listed building and as such contains multiple historic spaces.  The Cells are currently not accessible for those who use a wheelchair.  Lift access is available on each floor and DDA complaint fixtures and fittings have been used throughout. There are accessible toilets on each floor.

Sorry we don't allow animals into the venue apart from guide dogs and assistance animals.

Parking

St Albans Museum + Gallery is in the historic heart of the city centre. There is no parking on site, but there are numerous car parks nearby.  Please see link for more information: https://www.stalbans.gov.uk/car-parks-and-street-pay-and-display

Security

We take the safety and security of our guest and historic items on display very seriously.  Any events running after 5pm will incur an extra fee for security.  Based on the requirements of your event, our team will advise on the level of security required and costs.

Both St Albans Museum + Gallery and our in-house caterer have Public Liability Insurance.  All external suppliers being used for events must provide proof of the Public Liability insurance ahead of each event.
