Climb the 93 steps of the spiral stone staircase to the top of the only medieval town belfry in England and enjoy the magnificent views of the Cathedral, the historic city of St Albans and the beauty of the surrounding countryside.
Stop off in to the clock room to see the working Victorian turret clock mechanism, with its 7ft pendulum and step in to the belfry and admire the medieval bell, Gabriel, which is still rung every hour on the hour...don’t stand too close when it is chiming, as it is really loud!
Enjoy the first-floor display, “Ale House, Bellringer and Cordwainer – everyday histories at the Clock Tower” which covers over 600 years of occupants at the Clock Tower.
Play "Hunt the Golden Keys". Throughout the weekend, children will have the chance to win a bag of chocolate coins by playing “Hunt the Golden Keys”. Golden keys will be hidden throughout the Clock Tower for the children to find and count.
For Heritage Open Days (12-13 September) the Clock Tower is free entry 10:30am-5pm.
