Join co-curators Anthony Divey & Sara Rumberg as they take a further look at the religious beliefs and practices from 2000 years ago, examining Roman and Celtic belief systems that were active in Verulamium and the surrounding region. Pre-Christian Roman rule was broadly tolerant of other polytheistic religions leading to a fusion of ideas and allowing Celtic beliefs to flourish alongside the worship of classical gods, Eastern mystery cults and, ultimately, Christianity.
