Debris Field, 2019, Ink, paint and graphite on paper

Educated in Edinburgh, Stephen Wragg’s initial influences developed out of Scottish painterly tradition, before his studies took him to London where he began to focus on the often-unconscious informal visual language of the street.

Wragg’s current work is a reaction to the chaotic post-truth of the society we live in - sirens, false signals, conflicting and contradictory narratives and multiple voices clamouring for ascendency.

Debris Field in particular is an experimental collection of images exploring the disparate themes of technology for recording and amplification, arterial circulation and the human heart, the flow of river and estuary, and the Earth.
