Explore Verulamium Museum after hours!
Join us for this unique evening opening to discover some strange superstitions and curious customs from Roman times.
Meet an augur to hear about ancient practices of divination - determining the will of the gods through examining the weather, the actions of birds, and sometimes even the insides of sacrificed animals.
Try out some themed crafts, including for both adults and children making your own miniature coloured clay model inspired by Roman charms and votive offerings.
‘Follow the crow’, our new trail highlighting museum items associated with historic practices and beliefs, and handle museum objects specifically selected for this evening.
And if you’re feeling brave, bring your torch and set out on a spooky exploration of our corridor of Roman life. The lights will be out in this part of the museum but the mannequins will still be there!
All children must be accompanied by an adult who must remain with them at all times during the visit. Activities included. Bring your torch!
