Discover a vibrant new community-created mural celebrating African and African Caribbean stories, experiences and contributions in St Albans.
Designed by local artist and Black History Research Group (BHRG) Chair Aisha Adi, the artwork responds to this year's Black History Month theme, Honouring our Communities, and will be displayed on the museum railings until the end of November.
The mural was created with support from the community during two public painting days held at St Albans Museum + Gallery and celebrates the people, stories and achievements that help shape our city.

At the heart of the project are eight new oral history interviews recorded by the Black History Research Group. Shared in the interviewees' own words, these recordings document the lives, achievements and experiences of local people of African and African Caribbean heritage, from building new lives in St Albans to serving the community, running local businesses and breaking new ground in public life.
The mural and oral history recordings will become part of the St Albans Museums collection, preserving these important community stories for future generations.
Featured interviewees include Robert Samuel Wallace, aged 101, who reflects on his life and experiences after arriving in the UK from St Kitts in 1955.
