Travel through a typical day in Roman Verulamium in the company of a cast of characters who would have been typical of the town’s population some 1800 years ago. A chance to see how the people who lived here at Verulamium spent their time at work and at leisure.
Follow the routines of the rich and the poor; the workers, and the wealthy as they go about their daily lives around the town and its different districts, working, shopping, eating and relaxing in this thriving Roman town.
Curated by the Museum’s Front of House team in collaboration with curator David Thorold, this exhibition brings together remarkable Roman artefacts from the Museum’s collection from hipposandals to hairpins, signet rings to samian ware to explore how they may have been used and valued by the people who lived, worked and socialised in one of Roman Britain’s most important towns.
