Do you enjoy theatre, creating voiceovers or performing?

Would you like to be part of an upcoming exhibition at Verulamium Museum?

Are you interested in the world of audio guides and digital heritage interpretation?

St Albans Museums are looking for local people interested in helping create audio recordings as part of an upcoming exhibition, Women of Verulamium. We are also looking for volunteers who would like to help make our museum more accessible by recording audio versions of the display texts for visitors.

Women of Verulamium brings to life four very different women from St Albans’ Roman past, and we need your voices to help as do that. If you are interested, please read the summaries of each of the women (below) and choose one (or more) that you feel some sort of connection to.

To enter,  record yourself saying:

“My name is__________  and I feel a connection to [Name of the woman] because….”

Explain your connection in no more than 30 seconds – it can be anything, perhaps you share physical traits, cultural or geographical links, hobbies,  a career or are similar ages.

We aren’t looking for professional recordings – just a simple voice note or phone recording is great – and please use your normal voice, rather than putting on a particular accent.

Email your recording to VoicingVerulamium@gmail.com by Sunday 7th January 2024.

Our team will then review all submissions and get back to those selected to participate on Tuesday 9th January.

We will be recording the audio between 12:00 – 14:00 on Sunday 14th January 2024 at Verulamium Museum.

Please be sure you are able to make that date and time before sending us your recording.

If you don’t feel a particular connection to one of the women or can’t make the recording date but would still like to be involved in creating audio for the museum to make it a more accessible place, please email us on the above address to register your interest.
