In the past we have offered three-day work experience placements on specific dates, for school and college students aged 16 and over.
Placements involve a range of activities and provide a general overview of the workings of a museum - including working with the museum’s operations, learning and curatorial teams. Tasks may include customer service and gallery supervision, supporting workshops and activities as well as curatorial or documentation tasks.
Please note that placements are currently on hold. If you would like to be informed when applications open, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org with an expression of interest.
You can research further opportunities in your local area via the 'Do it' website, check out other Hertfordshire Museums, and Youth Connexxions. You can also explore your local Council for Voluntary Service (CVS) – a national network of centres who collate a wide range of local opportunities including “Youth opportunities”, including in St Albans. Lots of the London museums may have a programme including the Museum of London - do bear in mind that they tend to be very competitive. You can also download our file of useful heritage and arts links to explore below.
If you are over 18 years old, we offer volunteering opportunities.
