The St Albans Museums Trust

Founded in 1995, the St Albans Museums Trust is a registered charity and a key partner of St Albans Museums and the University of Hertfordshire. Its work includes supporting the museums and galleries of St Albans by utilising members’ interest and experience, raising funds, underwriting events and promoting the benefits of the city’s rich heritage, arts and culture.

Help Us Keep History Alive

St Albans Museums bring history to life through exciting, engaging and thought-provoking experiences for all. Our world-class collections span museums, galleries and heritage sites, telling the remarkable stories that shaped our past and continue to inspire our future.

Your Support Makes a Real Difference

When you support St Albans Museums & Galleries, you directly enable us to:

  • Inspire the next generation – Provide thousands of school children with bespoke learning experiences that spark curiosity and enrich their understanding of history, art and culture.
  • Showcase world-class culture – Present exceptional exhibitions ranging from local Hertfordshire wildlife to internationally acclaimed artists like Rana Begum and Barbara Hepworth, bringing world-class art to our community.
  • Preserve irreplaceable heritage – Safeguard our unique collection that tells the story of Boudicca, one of Britain's most legendary queens, alongside stunning Roman mosaics and artifacts that reveal daily life in Roman Britain.
  • Champion inclusion – Expand our community outreach programs that provide empowering cultural experiences for marginalised groups, ensuring everyone can access and enjoy our shared heritage.
  • Support local enterprise – Strengthen one of St Albans' most impactful cultural organizations while we champion and collaborate with small, local businesses throughout our community.

You can support us for as little as a one off donation of £5.

Your museum and gallery at the heart of the city

The Trust, in partnership with St Albans Museums and the University of Hertfordshire, led on the fundraising campaign behind the new St Albans Museum + Gallery, located in the city centre's Grade II* Town Hall.

The Trust spearheaded the fundraising of the final £1.7million of the £7.75 million project. Although St Albans Museum + Gallery is now open, it's never to late to contribute to the ongoing running of the building, helping us to put on exceptional exhibitions and events.
