Learning and Engagement Officer

£29,298 to £32,860 Inclusive Annual Salary

Plus up to 18.5% employer pension contribution

We have a vacancy for a Learning and Engagement Officer with our museum team. We run several museum and heritage sites including Verulamium Museum, the 15th century Clock Tower and the new St Albans Museum + Gallery, at the heart of the city centre.

You will be joining the Museums team at an exciting time, 2 years on from opening a brand-new museum and gallery. 

You will lead the development and delivery of formal and informal learning programmes across the museum service. 

As part of the Audience Development team, you will work with colleagues to develop new partnerships, build our audiences and their understanding of our collections and the local area and ensure an excellent visitor experience.

Educated to degree level or equivalent with a learning qualification or relevant experience, you will have sound working knowledge of the National Curriculum and other formal learning frameworks. Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills together with previous experience of delivering and devising learning programmes and activities is essential for this post. You must also be an excellent communicator with supervisory skills together with the ability to manage budgets and resources effectively.

Visitor Services Assistants

Two positions. Part-time 11.5 hours a week

Inclusive Salary Up To £20,718 - £22,374 (full time)

Plus, up to 18.5% employer pension contribution

This is a customer service role, working in St Albans Museum + Gallery. You will be part of a dynamic team, working in the front-of-house, gallery and shop areas. You will assist in ensuring all visitors have an enjoyable, educational and safe visit to the museum.  

St Albans Museums runs several museum and heritage sites including Verulamium Museum, the 15th century Clock Tower and the new St Albans Museum + Gallery, at the heart of the city centre. You will be joining the Museums team at an exciting time, two years on from opening a brand-new museum and gallery.

There are two part time vacancies available, both 11.5 hours per week. Each candidate must excel at engaging with people and have previous face-to-face customer service experience. Ideally candidates will have retail experience too. Applicants must be able to work one weekend day, every week. 

We’re looking for team players who can deliver excellent visitor experiences and the highest level of customer service. Previous museum experience is not required. You must be friendly, professional, able to thrive working directly with the public and willing to go the extra mile to make sure our customers have a fantastic visit.
