St Albans Museums works in partnership with the University of Hertfordshire Arts (UHArts + Culture) and decisions about exhibitions are made by the specialist staff from both organisations with the Curatorial Consultation Group.

The Curatorial Consultation Group meets every four months to discuss proposals and consider them in the context of our programming vision. We will carefully consider every proposal we receive.  However, we reserve the right to decline proposals if we don’t think they are suitable for our exhibition spaces.

All our exhibitions are a collaboration - we would expect to work with you on the interpretation of the exhibition to ensure a high standard. We encourage you to complete this form as early in your plans as possible to allow the greatest chance for collaboration.

We plan our exhibition programme around two years in advance and requests for suggested dates less than 12 months in advance are very unlikely to be successful. Please note: if you are interested in a very short term pop-up exhibition in our Assembly Room please contact us at museum@stalbans.gov.uk. There may be a charge for this use of our space.

Proposals that are accepted by the group will then be developed in partnership with the museum team. No exhibition is finally approved until a formal agreement is signed.

We strongly recommend you read the Guidance Notes and our Programming Principles below before submitting your proposal.
